We had a quiet day with just us two. Lots of phone calls from family and friends, more than plenty of good food. Bought dessert. Spent the afternoon looking for Xmas activities to do to cheer us up--we are both looking at surgeries...
And you?

It was a little lonely. My son is away. I went over to my brother-in-law's. Good luck with your surgery. When is it?

Sorry to hear about your surgery, Carlo. So many of my friends are having up coming surgical procedures, including my brother. It's so stressful to think about.
My Thanksgiving was spent at the farm of a very special couple from my church who I have gotten very close to in the past year. The man (also waiting for a very needed surgery - hip replacement ) is in constant pain and bed ridden. We were able to lift him into a mobile chair to sit at the table. Until he has his surgery he will be unable to walk for himself. Insurance issues are tying things up. So crazy - the hoops they have to jump through to get what is medically necessary! His wife with the help of church members and family and ME help her with farm duties and other needs.
She invited me to her house for Thanksgiving, 10 other people attended, either family members or church members. Two babies . LOTS of good food. So many homemade special side dishes and desserts to choose from. I had a very good time. For once, I didn't feel uncomfortable in a large gathering.
I never know where I'll spend Thanksgiving in Tennessee. It's been someplace different every year since I moved here. Last year I and 3 of my friends went to IHOP! Yesterday was much better than IHOP.

Luvn--I know what you mean about how holidays are like when the whole gang isn't around. My DH is very social and he seems lonely too.
Nash__your day sounds like you found the joy of it! We too. Have had many different kinds of holidays, mostly because of DHs job. We used to travel EVERY holiday...

Wishing you the best on your surgery.
My sister announced early in November that she had no intention of acknowledging Thanksgiving this year. So I decided I wasn't cooking and dad and I would be going out. My brother in law and nephew decided that sounded great and my sister eventually agreed. We ended up going to a restaurant called Black Eyed Pea and it was so nice. There was zero stress in the process, although they didn't take reservations so there was a bit of a wait but we expected that.
I woke up yesterday with hives and a massive cold. No clue where the hives came from but they are gone today.

I had a wonderful holiday. All 3 of the kids were home and of course the grandkids! had a wonderful meal of everyone's favorites. Since I cater, I couldn't bring myself to cook another turkey so everyone got to pick what they wanted. Had a lot of hot appetizers and a couple different kinds of meats. Had a wonderful time
