Whew! What a week. Our third cabin is finished, furnished and already occupied this weekend. DH listed it before it was done and we all had to scramble to get it ready. All three cabins rented part of the weekend so that is good. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the empty days so far. Haven't done anything but work--not even reading much.
Wassup with you?

Hi, Pollies! Wassup with me? Well, I hit the big 5-0 on the 29th of April. Can't believe it.
I am still struggling with my weight. Can't believe that, either. I told my WW leader that I am just going to set my goal weight for 200 lbs so I will have been at Lifetime for a lifetime already.
My son is looking for a better job. He's currently an assistant teacher at his old elementary school. No benefits, though. He also wants to move in with his girlfriend, so he needs something more reliable. He passed the test for the USPS. Now he is waiting to hear from them. I honestly don't see him doing the whole snow/sleet/rain thing, but I support him in whatever he does.
My students are doing very well, for the most part. A few of them would benefit from repeating the grade, but the Principal will probably promote them anyway.
I went to a pension clinic last night to get an idea of what retirement will be like. I still need to set up a 1:1 meeting to get my specific outlook, but it's nice to have an idea of what I'm working with. I can take early retirement at 57, when I'll have 25 years of service, but I will only receive about 60% of my salary. I would have to work until 62 to receive 100%. Some days, I don't even want to be there until 50.1! I may have to take up pole dancing to support my lifestyle.
Carolo, can you post pictures of the cabins?
Hi, Nash! How are your furry friends?

Luvn- I sure wish my school had held me back in 5th grade when I wasn't getting math. I didn't go to college because of math-- a huge negative impact in my life.
. And I am 66 years old an have done ww on and off since my 30s😥. A word about retiring. Our funds disappeared faster than greased lightening! Plan carefully.
Don't know how to post photos here. You can go to airbnb, type in Livingston Texas and look for "Cabin Off The Lake" or Barndominium Off The Lake" to see.

Jeanette, I took an early retirement from Blue Cross/Blue Shield after 35 years of service at age 55. I took my Medicare at age 62. Both at the earliest age that allowed me to. (the Blues - you cannot retire until 55. Medicare - 62 is the earliest you can take it.) Sure. If I waited to retire at 65 and take Medicare at 65, those checks would have been bigger. But big deal. I enjoyed so many more years of stress free living!
As for Weight Watchers. Well, you know my story. I've always been successful at losing at maintaining on WW. But good Lord! Those diet rules. I got so tired of dwelling of food plans, looking up points, getting in all my have too's. And the program changing every year . Weigh Down is so NORMAL. I'm maintaining on Weigh Down and losing (when I need to) on Weigh Down, the same way I did on Weight Watchers. But without rules . Other than eating like a naturally thin eater. When physically hungry . Takes practice. But it's worth it.
Today is farm day. Lots of baby goats on the farm. They are about a month old now - the stage where they become brats. Chewing, getting in the way. Jumping all over me. My friend Sherri has her granddaughter visiting her and she's bring the girl and another lady out to the farm for a tour. I'm also cat sitting for a family that has 5 cats. I spend the night then come back home early morning. The family will be back tomorrow. So tonight will be my last night to take care of their five furballs.
So your son wanted to be a teacher like his mom. Sweet. My niece is a teacher and her mom (my brothers ex - evil witch) was a teacher also. My friend is a mail carrier. And she works hard. I don't know how she does it in bad weather conditions. USPS - same thing. But good benefits, I imagine.

Hi Carlo, My post to Jeannette was suppose to include a hello to you. When I got to the end . It stopped posting. Hmmm. Is there a limit to how many words can go on a post?
Anyway. I'm glad your cabins are getting full. I'm sure this is a popular time for folks to want to get away .
My brother has a cottage on Harsens Island (Michigan) that he's always renting out and trying to keep up. It's a lot of work and getting good renters is sometimes a challenge. I don't think I"d want that headache myself.
