Today I had the 17 metal staples removed from my foot--yay! Yet I am still unable to bear weight on said foot or drive. Boo. Next week I go back to see how my tendon and ligament are faring.
How are all of you doing?

Oh, wow. My breath caught in my throat and I almost forgot to start breathing again! Are you OK?
I am doing well, thank you.

OK. Today(Thursday) I was in a lot of pain. I think the needle sticks to block pain for staple removal messed up some nerves in my foot. Tomorrow should be better. Thank goodness for my iceman! And television.
Glad you are well. Seems like lots of folks around here have the flu...

Oh my, that sounds painful Carolo! I bet you're glad the worse if over.
It is VERY cold here today. I hate to go back outside but may go to the hospital to visit my friend if she asks me to. This is the lady who has the farm I hang out at. Her husband had a hip replacement this morning. A long awaited operation. He's been through so much. I'll see if I can do a cut and paste from Facebook. She and a friend of hers described his ordeal far better than I could ..
Anyway. If you're a praying person - put Mike on your prayer list .

This is long. It's my friends post on Facebook about her husbands Mikes ) ordeal . But it gives you an idea of how much he's been through :
Mike and I have been on a journey of a lifetime. And can I say it has just been Fan-tas-tic!!! As many of you may know, Mike has had a few challenges in his life, a stroke in 1996, and then in July 2016 his left hip went "out" leaving him bed bound with just an unbelievable amount of pain in that hip. Within 2 days he had a staph infection and spent the next 3 months in and out of the hospital and a facility, contracting a second bug that went septic, and he was indeed fighting the fight of a lifetime. In October we brought him home and it appeared to all who were close to us and caring for him that his time on earth was near the end. Our dear spiritual leaders of Remnant Fellowship Church, Gwen Shamblin and about 14 others, came to pray for Mike. And from that point, there was a complete turnaround in certain circumstances and Mike started and then resolved to fight the fight and he began improving. Mike was cleared for surgery from the infections on October 24, 2016. The custom prosthetic piece he needed for his hip surgery was nowhere close to being done and the insurance company was pushing him toward long-term care, not believing he would make it to the surgery. The surgeon was saying he hadn't given up hope and was cheering us on. Our family and the beautiful saints of Remnant Fellowship Church continued to rally around us, and since July 19, 2016, there's been a team of people helping that is truly far too great to name but have done everything from around-the-clock care to meals and treats, to helping with farm chores and household upkeep, to physical therapy and wound care in some cases where insurance and facilities failed and just really so much that I can't express it all. And I can say without a doubt in my mind that without our family and the saints of the Remnant, these vessels of God, finding the spirit as we've been taught to do at Remnant Fellowship Church, giving up of their time and resources lifting us up and supporting us in so many ways, without all of that, we would have already had Mike's funeral. It was truly just too large of a situation that he could not have survived had I had to bear this alone. I can NEVER express my gratitude to God first and Gwen Shamblin and other leaders, our family, and all the saints who have and continue to this day to care for us.
So the update is that Mike is scheduled for hip surgery on Friday February 3. We would covet your prayers leading up to and for the surgery. So far he is cleared for surgery but there are a multitude of things that could delay or derail it as it is a very difficult task keeping someone healthy enough for surgery who has been primarily confined to a bed for over 6 months now. We are believing he will have the surgery on February 3rd, at least that is our prayer, and I could say for Mike's sake, which of course I pray for that relief for him, but it's for God's sake and a testament to HIS glory and His power. And we pray that if you're ever feeling low or having a hard time, that you remember that we serve an incredible amazing God who performs miracles and it is indeed a miracle that Mike Beiling is still here, still saying and singing Fan-tas-tic, and he can't wait to share that with you himself!!!!
I'm going to tag some people that have been a part of this journey and I KNOW I'll leave some out, but not on purpose, so for the sake of God and His Kingdom

And her update an hour ago:
Surgery DONE!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Doc said Mike couldn't have done better! Still waking up out of anesthesia then to recovery. I expect him in his room within the hour. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 He still has a road ahead with only toe-touch weight bearing for the next 4 months. But prayerfully the pain will be gone and he will have relief and then he can begin working towards strengthening enough to get back on his feet!!❤❤❤❤❤ We can't thank you enough for your prayers!!!

Wow, Nash, that is a LOT for one person to go thru! Mike will be in our prayers for sure, and wishing him a smooth recovery. Hip surgeries are tough. I bet you are on that list of helpful people:)
It is pretty cold here in SE Texas today(Friday). Will be in the low 40s tonight. But on Sunday the Superbowl should have near 70s weather.. I managed to get out today to pick up an RX and grocery shop. I Had a sinfully large ice cream cone from a marble slab shop. Came home sore and swollen and am back on the iceman:). Pretty good day!
Have a good Friday evening, all.
