Have you ever been to a Dinner theater? Did you enjoy it. What was on the menu?

I have been to 3 Dinner Theaters but they were horse related. DH and I went to the Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge TN twice and Medieval Times in FL. Both places had a small chicken with half a baked potato and some other stuff I don't remember. We had to eat with our hands as not utensils were provided. We did enjoy all the performances.

Been to a few, in different states. One had the seating in a large rectangle around the stage, making it much like theater in the round. Dont remember the food, but do remember dh and I going and being seated wkth another coupld we did not know. Met new people-nice...

I have been to quite a few - mostly at the Fox Theater in Downtown Detroit. My brother had a patient who had ties there and got us free tickets in exchange for dental services.
Anyway. Food was not my focus. I can't remember what they had. And it's been a very long time. I remember one of the plays we saw where dinner was included was "Cats" and I was very disappointed in the play. Not what I was expecting. Maybe cat moms' expect a little too much.

It just occurred to me. I have been to about 2 or 3 when I first moved to Nashville. It was through a senior group at my local rec center. They provided the bus transportation. The shows were on an amateur level. But the people were fun and I enjoyed it. With that group it was all buffet style. Nothing impressive.

I've been to a few but they are all closed now.
Country Dinner Playhouse was set up as a buffet and you had dinner before the show. It was kind of theater in the round with the cast members serving as wait staff refilling drinks and bringing out dessert. They usually did musicals such as Annie Get Your Gun or 42nd Street.
Heritage Square Music Hall was a small venue in a building that was designed to look like a Victorian era building. The dinner was served on the upper floor and was a buffet. They had a regular wait staff for drinks and dessert. Downstairs was a regular type theater with seats facing the stage. They specialized in melodrama and musical revues. Almost all of their productions were original. I really miss them.
